  • Overview

    A structured Controller role is critical to the success of the River Cree Resort & Casino. The primary goal of the Controller is to provide complete and accurate accounting of the Enoch Casino Limited Partnership.


    Controller responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accounting controls, reporting, and financial compliance. The Controller responsibilities also include management of all day-to-day accounting functions, management of financial statement preparation and reporting ,processes, federal and provincial income and excise tax compliance, management of the internal and external audit processes, corporate budgeting, and development and implementation of all accounting policies & procedures for the properties and/or companies.



    Working closely with the CFO and COO, the Financial Controller would be responsible for the following areas of duties and responsibilities:


    • Preparing all required financial statements including supplemental financial reports on a periodic basis as requested
    • Overseeing all day-to-day accounting functions including sales, accounts payable, payroll, cash management and treasury
    • Managing all internal and external financial audits, tax audits or compliance audits
    • Maintaining and managing written accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
    • Supervising and mentoring accounting personnel including performance evaluations and feedback


    • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting requirements related to Casino Facility Licence
    • Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements related to FNDF grant agreement
    • Coordination of regulatory audit requirements
    • Responsible for proper accounting of gaming revenues including flow of funds for facility rental fee from Me'Chet Charity 



    • Ensure compliance with all contractual reporting requirements
    • Preparation of Legal Entity Financial Statements
    • Preparation of Legal Entity Income Tax Returns
    • Preparation of Legal Entity GST Returns
    • Coordination of contractual audit requirements
    • Ensure compliance with requirements of loan agreement




    • Responsible for day-to-day accounting for the Resort and Casino
    • Preparation of Resort-wide Daily Flash
    • Responsible for Resort-wide operational and capital budget preparation and variance analysis
    • Responsible for working capital and short-term banking / credit requirements
    • Responsible for proper accounting, reconciliation and payment of intra-company account balances between River Cree Sports (shared services, complimentaries)
    • Responsible for compilation of financial information for 1023576 Alberta Ltd., Enoch Cree Nation Business Trust (Trust and all entity’s owned directly or indirectly by the Trust.



    Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with minimum 5 years’ experience in controllership or related positions. Candidate should hold a recognized accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA).

    Individual should be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have excellent interpersonal and follow up skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task.  Solid verbal and written skills as well as the ability to meet deadlines.


    Detailed accounting knowledge of GL, job costing, A/P, payroll, capital asset, budgeting and financial reporting and cash management.


    Knowledge of Canadian and provincial business corporations act.
